the grump

here comes the grump

Rexford G. Lambert, aka The Grump. I forgot to mention it, but Rex quietly turned ten last January. He's still a youngster, but he's getting grumpier as the years go by.

I emailed this photo, titled Badass, to Hanley's mother today:

Badass on Twitpic

And she replied: Oh my god! She looks like a f__king teenager!

With that in mind, I created this:

talking to the universe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5xhXMMpUkY)

Yesterday Paul Lisicky tweeted a link and said something like Dog goes over cliff, rescuers respond. I was immediately anxious. Was the dog okay? Did they rescue it successfully? Was it still trapped? Where is it? How did this happen? Was it hurt? And many more questions followed, all of which would probably have been easily answered if I would've clicked the link in Paul's tweet. However, I couldn't, because if the outcome of the dog's fate was anything less than positive, I would cry and be even more anxious, and I'd resent Paul for tweeting something terrible about a dog, and I adore Paul, so that would simply suck big pig dick. Once I worked through all that, I tweeted in return: Not looking unless I know the dog is okay. His reply was: The dog seems better than okay. Relieved, I clicked the link.

Nothing happened. It was a video on a news site that wouldn't play on my iPhone. I tried my iPad and got the same result. I figured that would be the case but thought it wouldn't hurt to give it a whirl. Then I decided that the universe was trying to tell me something. It was saying, Do you really want to be that person watching videos on your mobile device while you're in the bathroom?

Good call, universe.

Photo Friday, Number 94. Theme: Turbulent.

Hanley's turbulent temper strikes again. All I said was, "Is it time for night-night?" And then the above happened. Clearly, the answer was a resounding yes.

After I picked her up from school and ran errands yesterday, H and I returned to Hanley, Inc. headquarters. Once inside, The Big H immediately got on to one of the cats for being nosey. "No, no, Layla. That Hanley hat!" she explained, shaking her head at George (who looks just like Layla, which means "Layla" is a universal name for all three cats in the house.) and admonishing her for sniffing the pink cowboy hat we'd just purchased and placed on the kitchen counter with my manny bag, Hanley's lunchbox, and every other book, magazine, and small object in the known universe. George moved on to my bag and, once again, Hanley shook her finger at her and said, "No, no, Layla! That Timtee's purse!"

"Murse," I corrected.

hello good morning

I'm not sure whose morning breath is worse, Rex's or mine. But I'm fairly certain that mine doesn't smell like rancid garbage.

i've been tired

Rex and Pixie are at the vet today for their semi-annual check-ups, so the only dog available to fill in for Rex Tuesday is Scout's Honor foster dog, Penny. The house behind my apartment has been having cosmetic repairs, new gutters one day, a new roof today, among other things, so I'm pretty tired and really don't have the brain power to put together a witty entry about how great Penny has been the few months that she's been living with us at The Compound. But she's been a fantastic snooze partner today while I've been cat napping between bouts of hammering. Above is a picture of her warming up a spot on the couch for me.
