guess who came for dinner

Greg's here. Yay! He arrived last night, just in time for dinner, and it was as if he'd been to The Compound a million times already. Maybe it's because of all the exchanges via the Internet, but there was hardly any of the usual first time meeting awkwardness. I like that. We talked until the wee hours of the morning, mostly about writing, reading, which was wonderful. It's always fun to pick another writer's brain. (With fava beans, and a nice chianti. *slurp slurp slurp*)

Speaking of Greg, Becky posted his next book cover in her LJ. Check it out, it's fantastic.

I know it's hard to believe, but River took to Greg right away, pushing agaist him and staring at him with those "I've been abused, so you need to pet me now, damn it" eyes. Lazlo, however, only wanted to be fed and I beleve kept a healthy distance. If he attempted to steal Greg's breath while he slept, I guess it didn't work, because Greg seems to have survived his first night at The Compound.

Tonight is our signing at Meteor. Signings make me nervous, because the require me to leave the house and interact with people. Or they require me to leave the house and wonder if anyone is going to show up. I usually rail against "I want you to like me" neediness, in myself and others, but signings really work against self-confidence sometimes. If only two or three people show up, it's hard not to take that personally, but it happens sometimes. We've already received some checks in the mail to donate to NO/AIDS, so at least we have donations on hand, just in case. Yay! Thank you for getting those in the mail, y'all. =)
