penny and me

Penny is still with us. She slid through an other Saturday With Scout's Honor event without being adopted. Penny is very good at sitting quietly in her crate and going unnoticed, because that's her modus operandi when she's nervous. One of the other SH volunteers said there was a woman interested in fostering Penny and possibly adopting her if they got along well, which would be wonderful, but the woman took a foster application and was never heard from again. So, we'll see if anything comes of that. (Doubtful.)

When we returned to The Compound Penny was ecstatic to be back. She ran around Becky's house a few times, pooped, played with Pixie and Rex, and then took a long nap in my apartment. From then on she was on her best behavior. She's usually a bit standoffish with me and Mr. Becky, leading us to believe some dude was mean to her at some point in her life. But after adoption day she snuggled with me on the sofa while we watched TV, and she ran up to Mr. Becky and let him pet her, which is unheard of. On Sunday she was playful and friendly all day.

This morning, however, when I exited the bathroom after showering, I found Penny sitting in the middle of the sofa and happily gnawing on one of my socks without a care in the world. Luckily, she's damn cute.
