I couldn't think of which song I wanted to wake up to this week, so I had my iTunes pick a song at random. It chose "Borderline" by Madonna, which immediately sent me back to 1980somethingorother when I was in high school and I was returning home with a bunch of other choral singers who had auditioned for--was it District 3 choir or All-State choir? Hmm...doesn't matter--anyway, we were on our way home on a school bus, tired, late, hungry, and "Borderline" began to play on the radio. I was sitting with Sheri Burns. We started singing along together and I started making up bad choreography to go with the song to make her laugh. It was fun and, for a brief moment, I forgot to care what other people thought about me and what I was doing.

For some reason, back then, I was shocked and appalled whenever my brother and all his friends kept calling me that other F word.
