I just got back from the gym. It was nice to have a quiet day today with no obligations. Last Friday was Becky's birthday, which was fun. Friends came over to celebrate and have dinner. Our inner sixteen year old girls were invited, too, as the celebration was New Moon themed. After dinner and cake, we watched the movie New Moon. Unfortunately, there was no screaming.

What did I do on Saturday? I know there was something during the day, but now I've forgotten. Oh, yeah! Hanley Inc.'s CEO attended a corporate retreat in Nappa Valley, so I had to work that morning. The Big H and I attended a plant sale. She helped me pick out plants for The Compound. All sales benefited Mandell Park, so we felt compelled to buy more plants than we really needed. After dropping off the plants at The Compound, we had coffee and muffins at Starbucks. While Hanley napped, Hanley Inc's COO returned and released me early, so I got the car washed and its interior vacuumed. As soon as I did, dark clouds began forming overhead and the wind picked up. Isn't that always the way? However, it didn't rain! What a great day. Later that evening, I attended the Prankster's Art Auction at South Beach benefiting Montrose Softball League. I hadn't been to South Beach in years. In fact, I realized I hadn't been to any club or bar since Houston's smoking ban went into effect. It was strange. The place was crowded, but so many people were outside. I didn't want to be among them, I'm happy to say. But, I also didn't drink. Didn't want to tempt fate. It was a fun night, though. There was great art, great friends, and a great number of hot dudes in tight jeans.

Yesterday was a Scout's Honor adoption event at Petsmart in The Heights, so I swung by Happy Tails and picked up Happy, whose name has been changed to Maggie, and brought her with me to the event. She's usually content to lay in her crate and look cute at adoption events, but this time she was very chatty. I think she was saying, Why am I here? I love hanging out at Happy Tails with my new friends. Two dogs were adopted that day, but not Happy Maggie, so she came home with me for an overnight play date with her pal Pixie. Rex the curmudgeon stayed with Becky. Pixie and Maggie had a great time together.
