turned the corner

At Hanley Inc. today I watched as Hanley muttered and chattered to herself while she strangled a stuffed caterpillar. Her voice dropped an octave and sounded very raspy as she said, "Da! Dachta morltor dachta," and I wondered if an evil spirit was using her as a vessel. Or maybe she knew a foreign language. It sounded like something I'd heard before though. The caterpillar flew across the room, bounced off a wall and landed next to Calvin, who was napping on a large pillow. Calvin sniffed the caterpillar, snatched it up in his jaws and ran around the corner to the stairs.

"Mahtal!" Hanley screeched. She clenched her fists and launched into a guttural wail, and then I realized she sounded a lot like Yoko Ono.
