what's new pussycat?

Yes, I've been horrendously absent from posting anything here. There really hasn't been much to note lately, and there's only so many times I can say "I went to the gym today," or "I didn't break the baby today" in a given week before even I get sick of myself. And that's really all I've been doing. Wake up, eat, go to gym, eat again, waste time until bedtime. Or, wake up, eat, go to Hanley Inc., try not to break baby, go home, eat, waste time until bedtime. Blah, blah, blah, Vanessa.

But today there is something worth mentioning and that's that I have a new foster dog. Say hello to the most mavericky maverick of the maverickest mavericks who ever maverickedly mavericked a mavericking maverick, Maverick!

Maverick 2

You can click the photo and see other shots of him on my Flickr account.

Maverick is about six months old, sweet as you'd-better-have-eyes-in-the-back-of-your-head pie, and loves to play fetch. While I was uploading and editing photos on my computer, he played behind my chair with a rope toy for about a half hour, having the time of his life tossing it around and chasing it, as if he were a kitten. It's good to know that he's already able to amuse himself in a strange home with a toy he's allowed to have, instead of finding him eating my Converse like some dog I could mention.

I haven't introduced him to the other dogs yet. He's still kind of nervous about being here so it would probably be mean to shove a hyperactive kangaroo Rex at him, or a snarky Margot, or Guinness the schoolmarm, and say, "Good luck." Although, I'm sure they'll have the time of their lives playing with each other. We'll see.
