blowin' in the wind

Hurricane Ike seems to be barreling toward us now. I've been out buying batteries, a lantern, starter fluid for the grill, and other essentials, all the while communicating via cell phone with Becky, who was doing the same thing in other areas of the city. Everywhere we've gone has already been ransacked by more informed and better prepared residents of Houston. We've managed to find just about everything we might need, though, to ride out the storm. What we couldn't find, Mr. Becky is getting on his way home from work. We're not evacuating. There hasn't been a mandatory evacuation for Houston yet anyway. I think it's kind of funny that Mark G. Harris arrived for a visit just as Ike took a turn our way. I think Mark's might be a storm magnet of some sort. Now, I'm checking weather reports and trying to think of what I'm going to design for LJ Runway next Monday.

Otherwise, it's been a gorgeous sunny day. You'd never know there's an impending doom out there, which reminds me very much of September 11, 2001.
