Today is my birthday. If you didn't get me anything, it's okay. Whenever people ask me what I want for my birthday, or Christmas, or whatever special occasion is upcoming, I can never think of anything to ask for. Maybe it's because I'm put on the spot. Or, maybe it's because I don't think I deserve something special. More than likely it's because I think about what I do have and realize I don't need more things. Hurricane season has begun, which means a huge storm could wipe out the area today, tomorrow, or next week, and all my wonderful things could be washed away or blown away to Humble. What I'd be left with are better than things: my friends, my life, and my dog. (And my violin, because it's a family heirloom and I could play it on the corner for spare change.)

If you still feel the need to do something for me to celebrate my birthday, please consider making a donation to Scout's Honor Rescue Inc. I've decided to turn 33 this year, so you could make a $33 donation. Or, if you really want to get me something, you could mail me a $33 million donation to found a pet hospital, with space within the facility for Scout's Honor, and a huge dog park outside. That would rock.
