loser

I forgot to mention that I have the special honor of being a two-time loser. Best Gay Erotica 2007 didn't win the Lammy for Gay Erotica. Here's the acceptance speech I cobbled together in my head at the last minute that I didn't get to give:

Richard Labonte asked me to express his thanks to the Lambda Literary Foundation for this award, and to Cleis Press for continuing to ask him to edit the Best Gay Erotica series. I'd like to thank Richard for asking me to select the stories for his anthology, and the contributors for allowing us to print their work in the collection. I'd also like to thank everyone who submitted a story for consideration, for giving me a lot of excellent stories to read. There are a lot of damned fine writers out there, and if anyone in this room knows someone who sent us a story, please tell them I said so.
